RAJSHAHI: Forty grass-root level women, including five in divisional level, were accorded with 'Joyeeta Reception' at Prof Dr Kaiser Rahman Chowdhury auditorium of Rajshahi Medical College yesterday, reports BSS.
They were successful women in five different sectors. Successful women were titled Joyeeta (a Bengali word for winning women). Joyeeta Onneshone Bangladesh - a government initiative introduced in 2009 - has had a tremendous impact on the society. Rajshahi divisional administration organised the function with the association of ministry of women and children affairs and directorate of women affairs.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki, MP addressed the ceremony as chief guest while Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and Akter Jahan, MP, spoke as special guests. Munir Hossain, Divisional Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi, was in the chair.
State Minister Meher Afroz Chumki said government has taken various initiatives to create women-friendly atmosphere in the country so that the women can play an important role for country's socioeconomic development.
Recognition via the Joyeeta award will further encourage women to face various challenges more confidently and become role models for the society, she hoped. Five women were selected as 'Joyeeta' in five different categories by the respective Union committee and later by the upazila, district and divisional committees under the guidance of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, the organisers of the programme said. Forty women have been recognised at the upazila, district and divisional level of Rajshahi for their extraordinary achievements in different fields of development like economic success, education and employment, successful mother, prevention of repression and social development.
Each of the awarded joyeeta received cash Tk 10,000, crest, scarf and certificate as sign of recognitions for their achievements.
