Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Environment and Forests yesterday urged the authorities concerned to scrutinise the 'enforcement activities' whether it is going on right direction towards bringing dynamism in department of environment (DoE), reports BSS.
The parliamentary watchdog body also passed recommendation to take further measures on the basis on the findings of scrutiny at its 21th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Presided over by the Chairman Muhammad Hasan Mahmud, committee members Deputy Minister for Environment and Forests Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, M Yahia Chowdhury, MP, Tipu Sultan, MP, M Yasin Ali, MP and Merina Rahman, MP attended the meeting.
The committee also discussed about the revenue earning and others activities of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park. It made recommendation to lease out the Sheikh Russel Aviary and its gate.
The committee took decision to summon the managing director of Karnaphuli Paper Mills for the sake of taking necessary measures to prevent the pollution of Karnaphuli River.
