The excitement and enthusiasm amongst the participating team is rapidly increasing as Dhaka Premier league (DPL) is drawing closer.
The upcoming edition of the league is scheduled to get underway at different grounds in Dhaka and its adjacent areas on April 22.
Like the other teams Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited started their practice sessions for the league.
Under the supervision of their coaching staffs, they are honing their  skills and techniques so that they could build up understanding amongst the players, mitigating the number of errors along with setting their plan for their team.
The team, one of the country’s traditional powerhouses, formed a comparatively better side from the players draft but they have lack in batsman in top-order alongside having no good pacer. And so, they are trying to rope in a pace all-rounder from abroad to fill up the void.
“We’re delighted to get Mushfiqur Rahim, who is one of the leading batsmen of Bangladesh. It would be better if he could play till the end. Along with that, we’ve Naeem Islam, Ariful Haque, Saykat Ali, Shubhashis Roy, Nazmul Hossain Milon like batsmen in the side,” said coach Sohel Islam.
“Actually it would be difficult to make a well-balanced and all-round team through players by choice system. But we’ve formed a comparatively better team. We’re strong in spin and batting departments. If our pace battery could do well then we’re hopeful of doing better result,” Islam told media after their practice session.
Sohel said that they are planning to bring a pace bowling all-rounder who also can bat up the order from overseas quota.
“We’re thinking to bring a pace all-rounder. We’ve talked to some players. But we’re yet to finalise any deal with them,” Mohammedan coach claimed.
On the other hand, experienced campaigner Naeem Islam, who led Mohammedan several times, said that they have some lack in their pace department.
“We’ve weakness in pace bowling department though we are strong team in other sides. It would be better if we would have good pace bowler,” Naeem Islam said..
About his personal performance, Naeem said, “I’ll try to get better than the past. I’m moving forward with this target.”
