Workshop on thesis writing held at BUP
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organised a workshop on “Thesis Writing Procedure and Presenting Research Seminar” yesterday, says a press release.
Researchers of MPhil and PhD Programme who have completed their course work and those undergoing the same attended the workshop. They learnt practical application of theoretical knowledge about scientific research. Vice-chancellor Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled and Pro-VC Prof Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BTFO were present as the chief guest and special guest respectively. Key Note Speeches were delivered by renowned researchers of Bangladesh Prof Khawaja Muhammed Sultanul Aziz, secretary, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences; Prof Md. Hasibur Rashid, Dept of Management Information Systems, University of Dhaka; and Prof Shuchita Sharmin, Dept of Development Studies, University of Dhaka.
Maritime University signs MoU with Indian counterpart
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University, country’s first ever and only specialsed university, signed a MOU with its counterpart Indian Maritime University on Friday, says a press releases. The signing ceremony took place during the Maritime India Summit 2016 held in Mumbai between the Vice-chancellor of BSMR Maritime University Rear Admiral ASM Abdul Baten and the Vice-chancellor of Indian Maritime University Shri K Ashok Vardhan Shetty. Indian Minister of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways Shri Nitin Jayram Gadkari was present on the occasion.
One Asia Foundation chief visits EU
One Asia Foundation Chiarman Yoji Sato visited Eastern University on April 13 on the closing ceremony of the Course on ‘Asian Community: Economy and Culture’, says a press release.
Eastern University (EU) is the first university in Bangladesh to receive a grant from One Asia Foundation of Japan to conduct a course on Asian Community. The course titled ‘Asian Community: Economy and Culture’ was offered for the first time in Spring Semester, 2016 in the Faculty of Business Administration of the university. The closing ceremony of the course was marked with the presence of Yoji Sato, Founder Chairman of One Asia Foundation as the chief guest. Among others, Abul Khair Chowdhury, chairman of the Board of Trustees, EU; Prof Abdur Rab, Vice-chancellor of EU, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, member of BoT, EU Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Pro Vice-chancellor, EU Muhammed Siddique Hossain, Treasurer, EU; Deans and advisors of faculties; chairpersons of Departments and Registrar were present.
Universities celebrate Pahela Boishakh
Different public and government and private universities in the countries on Thursday celebrated Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangali New Year 1423, with traditional festivities and much enthusiasm.
The universities are: Jahangirnagar University, Islamic University (IU), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU) in Gazipur and North South University (NSU) and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) in the capital.
Marking the day, the teachers, students along with officers and stuffs of the universities brought out a colorful procession carrying banners, festoons and masks. The processions were led by their Vice-Chancellors. Proctor, teachers, officials and students attended the processions. The processions paraded the main streets of the campuses. At Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, the festivities began at morning on its campus premises inaugurated by Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla, vice-chancellor of the university. The Baishakhi programme was featured with traditional fairs, folk festivals and spontaneous merriment of the students, teachers, officials of SAU and others. Different cultural and social students’ organisation- SAU Language Club, Nilima, Shuvo Shangho, Krishan Theater, SAU Debating Society, SAU Rovers Scout, SAU Bandhusova, SAU Sahhitto Sangshod, Sopnoshiri, Badhon, Saptak, SAU Photographic Society took part the Bhaisakhi fairs with their stalls containing several items of Bengali tradition & culture.
