Hemophilia And Health Care Trust (HHCT) and Hemophilia Welfare Society (HWS) yesterday demanded to establish 10-bed Hemophilia Ward in the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), reports UNB.
They demand came from a human chain marking the Hemophilia Day in front of the National Press Club in the capital yesterday.
Speakers said this is a very primitive disease. It has no permanent treatment yet anywhere in the world. It can kill children in early stage of life due to clotting.
Speakers said every year one male child dies in every 5000 children and one is affected with the disease by born in every 1000 children.
Speakers said it needs to ensure the patients modern treatment without fee, rehabilitation and special privilege in the society.
They also demanded Hemophilia physiotherapy centre should be established in the DMCH and have to be extended in every government run Hospital.
Executive Director of HHCT Akhtaruzzan Azad and Chairman Tofajjal Hossain, President of HWS Eng. Abdul Majid Fakir were , among others present in the programme.
BSS adds: Bangladesh is set to join the global community in observing the World Hemophilia Day today to drum up the awareness campaign to support the patients with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders.
