Fruit festival held at UODA
A daylong ‘Fruits Festival 2015’ organised by the Department  of Communication and Media Studies (CMS) of University of Development Alternative (UODA) was held on its campus at Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday.
Registrar of UODA Iffat Kayes Chowdhury was the chief guest in the festival. He appreciated the students of the department for arranging fruit festival.
Different types of seasonal fruits like jackfruit, mango, lichis, pineapple, and guavas were displayed in the festival.
M Mahbub Alam, coordinator of CMS department, presided over the programme while deputy registrar Foizun Nahar, coordinator (admin) Mofidul Alam Khan, associate professor Nur Mahal Sharmin, Imran Hasan, lecturer AKM Shahinul Haque, Md Yeasin Elahi, Barek Kaiser, ex-teachers Sheikh Shafiul Alam, Mahmuda Khan Kakoli, Rafiquzzaman and student Rezaul Hannan Mithun addressed the programme.
Students and teachers of the department collected the seasonal fruits and displayed in the festival.
Workshop on threatened species at SUST

A day long regional dissemination workshop titled ‘the process and outputs of the IUCN red list of threatened species and science conference’ was held on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus on Tuesday under the sub-project of updating species red list of Bangladesh.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Forestry and Environmental
Science (FES) at the university central auditorium in collaboration with IUCN Bangladesh country office.
Teachers and students from various departments, including FES department, took part.
Narayan Saha, head of the department, presided over the opening ceremony while acting vice-chancellor Elias Uddin Biswas spoke as a chief guest.
Seminar on national budget
ULAB School of Business (USB) organised a seminar titled ‘Bangladesh National Budget 2015-16: What’s in the National Budget for you’ at the auditorium of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Dhaka on Tuesday, says a press release.
Imran Rahman, ULAB vice-chancellor, delivered welcome speech while Wazir Ahmed, assistant professor and director of BBA Programme, Pinki Shah, associate professor of USB, and Amit Sajid Haq, consultant, CES, ULAB, spoke on budget framework and analysis, business impact and economic impact of budget respectively.
The seminar was student-focused and a detailed one-hour discussion session among students, expert panel, and faculty members was held on the national budget. William H Derrenger, dean, ULAB School of Business (USB), moderated the discussion session.
