Man to die for killing wife

Bagerhat: A court here on Tuesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat district in 2014, reports UNB.
The convict was Habi Sarder,  a resident of Gona Balay village of the upazila. According to the prosecution, Hasina Begum, 32, daughter of Torab Ali Mollah, of Buridanga village of Mongla upazila, was tortured to death by her husband Habi on October 21, 2014 over family feud.
Victim’s brother Shamsul Mollah filed a case with Rampal police station the following day.
Thakur Das Mandal, sub-inspector of the police station, submitted a chargesheet against Habi on December 31, the same year.
After examining all the records and witnesses, sessions judge Mizanur Rahman Khan handed down the verdict.
