Attain IT skills: Speaker

Speaker of the Parliament Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today urged the students to attain skills in information technology (IT) to prove their worth in the global competition, reports BSS.
"Students should be more skilled in information technology to compete in the world stage and get good positions," she said. She was speaking as the chief guest at a scholarship awarding function titled 'IELTS Scholarship-2015' at British Council auditorium in the capital organised by the British Council, said a press release.
She expressed her thankfulness to the British Council for the scholarships for the meritorious students, as all parents are not able to bear the expenses. Dhaka University Vice- chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique was the special guest while IELTS Business Development chief Kafil Chowdhury moderated the event.
The four award winning students are - Adina Zerin Khan, Suaiba Amina Salauddin, Dipika Dev Dipa and Tasnim Khandaker.
Press release adds: The programme aims to support more students to access an international education experience.  This year, candidates planning to study in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme in any international higher education institution that recognises IELTS were invited to apply for the scholarship. Four applicants were nominated to receive the scholarship each worth of Tk 300,000. Scholarship payments will be made to the respective higher educational institution in order to support the awarded students towards their tuition fees.
