The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday approved a chargesheet against the president of Masjid Samaj Bangladesh and three others for misappropriating about Tk 1.23 crore in the name of mosque development.
The Commission in its regular meeting approved the chargesheet against them, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
The chargesheet will soon be submitted before court against MasjidSamaj Bangladesh president Nurul Islam Gazi, its general secretary Ayubur Rahman, joint secretary Dewan Mohammad Mizanur Rahman and its former president Salauddin Ahmed Zoha.
According to the ACC probe, Masjid Samaj Bangladesh, a public welfare
organisation, earlier took a piece of land in the capital’s Lalmatia area from the government to build a mosque, but the accused signedtwo separate agreements with two developer companies to build apartments on this land for their personal gains.
All the accused in collusion with each other swindled Tk 1.05 crore from The Civil Engineering Limited and over 23 lakh from City Dwelling Company by signing the agreements.
On March 24, 2015, ACC deputy director Tabibur Rahman filed a case against them with Mohammadpur Police Station in the capital in connection with the allegation.
