A seven-member delegation of the Organisation for the Recognition of Bangla as an Official Language of the United Nations made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban yesterday.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised the president of the activities of the organisation regarding achieving recognition of Bangla as an official language of the United Nations (UN), reports UNB.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Highlighting the steps taken by the government for achieving the recognition of 21st February as the International Mother Language Day, they hoped that the government would extend all necessary cooperation for establishing Bangla as an official language of the Unitred Nations (UN).
President Abdul Hamid appreciated their initiative and assured them of extending his cooperation for establishing Bangla as the official language of the UN.
Moinuddin Khan Badal, MP, secretary general of the Organisation of the Recognition of Bangla as an Official Language of the United Nations (UN) Tofazzal Hossain Chowdhury and secretaries concerned to the president were present on the ocassion.
