Speakers at a seminar in the capital yesterday stressed the need for research-driven teaching and learning system to increase quality of education at the tertiary level in the country, reports UNB.
They also said it is highly essential to ensure best practices of teaching and learning at the higher education level in the 21st century to keep pace with todays world.
The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) and Australian Macquarie University jointly organised the seminar titled Best Practices of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education through Research at UGC auditorium.
Presided over by UGC Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, the seminar was addressed, among others, Second Secretary of Australian High Commission in Dhaka Fdric Jeanjean, Pro Vice-chancellor of Macquarie University Prof Sherman Young.
The UGC chairman said the higher education has to be infused with quality education so that students can survive the global competition.
Best practices of teaching and learning could play key role in enhancing quality at tertiary level education, he added.
Fdric Jeanjean said that MoU, recently signed between UGC and Macquarie University will help build and develop academic and research collaboration between these two institutions.
UGC Member Prof Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah moderated the function, while Senior Lecturer of Macquarie University Dr. Julian Droogan presented the keynote paper.
UGC Members- Dr Dil Afroza Begum, Dr Md. Akhtar Hossain, Dr M Shah Nowaz Ali, UGC Secretary Dr Md. Khaled, Deans of different universities, high officials from UGC and Macquarie University were, among others, present on the occasion, said a press release.
