Modern communication networks soon in Rangpur: Jhantu

RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said construction works of many roads, culverts and bridges are being implemented to ensure modern communication networks soon in the city, reports BSS. The City Mayor, also a valiant freedom fighter, said this while launching maintenance works of one-kilometre long road from Kellabond to Shyamasundari Canal by unveiling plaque in a ceremony at Kellabond area on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
The RCC has been implementing the road maintenance works at Taka one crore under construction packages of roads and drains in five groups at Taka 4.32 crore with financial assistance of the Municipal Governance and Services Project (MGSP).
With City Panel Mayor Golam Kabir Kajol in the chair, City Councilor Shahjalal Karim Bakul, Assistant Engineer of RpCC Radib Al Hassan, social worker Dewan Nurul Islam and hundreds of local people attended the ceremony.
While addressing the occasion, the City Mayor directed the engineers, officials and contractors for ensuring the best quality of all infrastructural construction works with maximum transparency and accountability.
He also cautioned all concerned people of taking stern actions if any irregularities were found in the process of implementation of the infrastructural development works in the city.
"The traffic-jam situation would definitely be improved after completion of the massive ongoing infrastructural development works, including construction, maintenance and repairing works of roads, in the city soon," he added.
