Heat wave paralyses normal life in Noakhali

A hot spell over the past couple days has paralysed the normal life in Noakhali district.   There has not been any rain for several days.  Poor attendance in offices, schools and colleges has been reported since Monday. A large number of elderly people and children, suffering from dehydration, fever, diarrhoea and skin related diseases are being admitted to upazila and district level hospitals, sources said.  Dr Fariduddin, resident medical officer of Noakhali General Hospital, said a total 280 patients were admitted to the hospital on Saturday. Of them, 190 are children. He said the patients are suffering from diarrhea. Noakhali met office yesterday recorded temperature at 32.7 degrees Celsius.
