Police yesterday pressed charges against Manjurul Islam Liton, Awami League MP from Gaibandha-1 constituency, in a case filed for shooting a minor boy, reports UNB. Officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station Abu Haider M Asharfuzzaman, also investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Moinul Hasan Yusuf, said Court Police Inspector Enamul Haque. The court also granted permanent bail to the ruling party MP Liton in the case and fixed May 15 for the next hearing, he said. Earlier on March 7, the same court granted interim bail to MP Liton until April 10. On October 2 last year, minor boy Sourav, 8, son of Sazu Miah of Gopalcharan village, suffered wounds to his both legs with bullets allegedly fired by Manjurul Islam Liton at the village in Sundarganj upazila. Victim’s father Sazu filed an attempted murder case against Liton the following day.
