New trust fund established at DU
A new trust fund titled "Professor Dr M Delwar Hossain Trust Fund" has been set up at Dhaka University (DU) yesterday.
Professor Dr M Delwar Hossain handed over a cheque for Taka 5 lakh to DU Treasurer Prof Dr M Kamal Uddin to set up the Trust Fund.
Vice-chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Medicine Faculty Dean Prof M Ismail Khan were present at the cheque hand over function.
Out of the income of the fund, every year a male and female poor but meritorious student of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) will be awarded scholarship.
Prof Arefin thanked Prof Dr Delwar Hossain for setting up the Trust Fund and hoped that Delwar Hossain will also donate in different sectors in future.

Chaitali Utsab celebrated at Dhaka University
‘Chaitali Utsab’ was held at the University of Dhaka recently for introducing the traditional heritage of Bengali cultural to the new generation. The title of the programme was ‘Utsabe Sajai Praccher Oxford’ and celebrated at the premises of the faculty of Business Studies of the University of Dhaka.
The programme of the festival was supervised by the students of the ‘Recreation and Event Management’ course under the department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Dhaka.
The day-long festival from 9am to 600 pm had given the faculty premises a festive look.  The host of the festival planned to arrange the festival for welcoming the Bangla New Year and goodbye the Bangla last month with enthusiasm. They also tried to bring up the different dimensions of the Bengali heritage and culture.  
Different arrangements made the programme exceptional. Puppet show, bioscope domestic game, traditional food, cake were main attraction of the programme. Different stall based on traditional products brought a different look to the festival.  

Seminar on accountability and Islam held at IU
ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY:  A seminar titled ‘Accountability in Islam’ was held at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia in Kushtia yesterday. Dawah and Islamic Studies Department of the university organised the seminar at the dean office of Theology faculty.
Abu Bakar Siddique, the researcher of Ph.D, presented two articles at the seminar on ‘Accountability in Islam’. Professor Dr Muhammad Solaiman addressed the seminar as the chief guest with chairman of Dawah and Islamic Studies Department Professor Dr Shahidul Islam Nuri in the chair.
Professor Dr M Ahsan Ullah Faysal and Professor Dr Shahid M Rezwan spoke here as the key note speakers. Professor Dr Aktar Hossain of Al-Hadith and Islamic Studies Department conducted the seminar while the coordinator of the Ph.D Professor Dr Waliullah was present.
