State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki yesterday underscored the need for giving priority to children above all to build a modern and prosperous Sonar Bangla, reports BSS.
"When the children of the country will be given appropriate priority, the dream of building a developed sonar Bangla will be materialised," she said while addressing as the chief guest at a prize giving ceremony on "Dadabhai Award-2016" marking the 91st birth anniversary of noted children's litterateur Rokonuzzaman Khan Dadabhai. Chumki said the government is very cordial to protect the children's rights. She called upon the rich society to spend money for developing street children alongside the government.
She said the literary work of Dadabahi encouraged the children to study and expressed the need for a person like Dadabhai now. Nurjahan Begum, Editor of weekly magazine, the Begum, presided over the function.
Later, the state minister handed over the prizes to the winners of drawing and recitation competition.
