Small cars have always been looked down upon for not having enough space or being just too small to fit in. But small cars have their advantages as they have their disadvantages. One of the most important advantages is the cars are light which not only makes them more nimble but more economical. Size of the car can be a problem but in Bangladesh it’s rather fitting to own and drive a small car. You could ask why it’s fitting and the answer is simple, because the car is smaller, it will fit through tighter spots, you are able to park your car in places most cars would never fit. The most important disadvantage is that the cars are not necessarily safe.
Now moving on to the cars, we’ll start with the least smallest car among the three smallest cars. Taking 3rd place for the smallest car ever is the ISO Isetta which is known to many as a car made by BMW but originally it’s made by an Italian company called ISO. The car is powered by a tiny one cylinder engine and is located at the rear of the car. Occupants have to enter the car using a single door which is located on the face of the car. As you can see in the pictures the car has three wheels and like normal cars the front wheels steer the car and the rear drives the Isetta. The car was built in the Mid 1950s and immediately became the most economical car ever. Even to this day it has unbelievable mileage. On average it can nearly do 100 miles per gallon.
Moving onto the second car which is called the Commuter Cars Tango. The tango is not only a small car but it’s incredibly narrow which makes it very easy to use in traffic. The car is slightly wider than a motorcycle making it very narrow. The Tango is made in the USA in Washington. The car runs on batteries and has only one seat because the car is too narrow to fit two people inside the car. This being such a small car that runs on electricity might make you think that the car isn’t fast but you would be shocked at this car’s performance figures. The car produces 3000 lb/ft of torque. The Tango can hit 60mph/100kmph in 3.2 seconds making it quicker than most supercars. It has a total range of 240 miles making it economical as well.
And now the last but not least, Peel P50 which is the smallest car in the world. At just 54 inches long and 41 inches wide, the Peel P50 holds the Guinness World Record as the world’s smallest production car. The P50 similar to the ISO Isetta because they are both three wheeled cars but unlike the Isetta its engine is not located at the rear, it is located next to the driver. You can either buy it with a 1 cylinder petrol engine or as an electric vehicle. There are a few things wrong with the car, for example, the car does not have a reverse gear but you can simply pick up the rear of the car when you want to go in reverse.
