Wedding Photography and Me

If I try to find out the literal meaning of the wedding photography, the answer will be like that, to capture the moments of a wedding in camera. And the person who captures  those moments will be called a wedding photographer. But If I have to tell the answer in my way, the answer will be the, person who captures  the most beautiful family, bridegroom moments in his camera is a wedding photographer. And to the memory of a person’s whole life is really a tough job.
But with the digitization of the new century, the scenario is changing. People are getting interested in wedding photography.  Which was not even that much popular even a few years ago. People started the race with the wedding photography, who hire whom. How much appreciation his photo gets, which company makes  his/her photograph as their profile picture is the tools of the wedding photography race!!
I started my photography career with my father. As he works in the media field, he taught me the first lesson of photography with is SLR camera. Then after joining Media Studies and Journalism in ULAB, due to the class work and projects, the photography works started on a regular basis. As a wedding photographer I started working with an elder brother in 2012. Till now I am working with him. I do wedding photography as a part time work. Basically from the love with photography I work in this sector. Because if you can capture the most precious moments of someone’s life, the pleasure you will get, is not really describable.
As working experience I can tell, that the experience is mixed. It really makes  me happy when clients  find some good photos  of them and thank us. And when someone praises  for working in this sector alongside study. But I think our society is not yet ready for this profession, it will call   you cameraman other than a photographer or photo artist. Which is really embarrassing.
The present notion about this profession is changing. As a business, it is a good option now. More young and educated people are coming in this profession. And with the popularity of the social media, this profession is becoming a demanding profession day by day.
But it will not be a proper idea to come in this profession without any knowledge about light, editing, composition, gear, marketing, communication skill. After working 2 to 3 years in the photography field as a practitioner, then it can be a wise decision to take the wedding photography as a profession.
The demand of a good photographer is increasing day by day. But as the mass people are coming in this field without knowledge, the quality is falling in some way. But on the other hand good photographers  and photographs are also emerging.
As a student, wedding photography is a good profession/ business to choose. As you can start the work with a little investment and lots of idea. But in student life full time wedding photography will not be a good option to choose. As you have to spend lots of time to edit photos after the event. But if you work as a part timer, it’s a perfect job to do. But before starting the work, it is recommended to have at least the basic knowledge about photography.
