AL man held with firearm

Detectives in a drive arrested a local leader of Awami League with a firearm from his residence at Nandanpur in Gopalpur upazila early yesterday. A team of DB police on a tip-off raided the house of Saiful Islam Talukdar Suruj, secretary of Gopalpur upaizla unit Awami League, and arrested him at around 2:30 am on charge of several criminal activities, said Mahfizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Tangail DB police. Police also recovered a pistol and four bullets from his possession. A case was filed with Gopalpur Police Station and he has been sent to jail. The AL man was wanted in several cases filed with Gopalpur Police Station, added the OC.
