Gazipur: At least seven shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Joydebpur bus stand in the city yesterday morning, UNB. Hasibul Islam, an official of Joydebpur fire service station, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a shop of one Anwar Hossain around 6:30 am and soon engulfed six adjoining shops. On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals and shop owners at about 7 am. However, there was no casualty in the incident. The affected shop owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire would be Tk10 lakh.
