Khulna: A local BNP leader was shot to death by some miscreants in Arongghata area of the city on Friday night, reports UNB Additional deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police Sheikh Maniruzzaman Mithu said a group of armed miscreants intercepted SM Alamgir Hossain,50, industries affairs secretary of 3 no. ward unit of BNP, son of Akbar Hossain in the area, and opened fire on him around 10:30 pm, leaving him critically injured. Later, he was rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 11 pm. Police could not arrest anyone as the miscreants fled the scene after firing shots. However, the reason behind the killing could not be known immediately.
