The house of Tebhaga Andolan leader Ila Mitra at Bagutia village in Shailkupa upazila lies in ruins for lack of maintenance and illegal occupation. Locals said one Kiamuddin Hazi with his family is living there. Kumar Biswas, a resident of Bagutia village, said the house has been occupied by some villagers. They should be evicted to protect the house, he said. Ila Mitra was the legendary peasant leader of undivided Bengal, a veteran front runner of the communist movement in the sub-continent and a dedicated friend to the cause of liberation war in 1971. Ila Mitra was born 0n October 18 in 1925 and died on October 13 in 2002.
