3-day Baruni fair begins

Traditional Ganga-snan, localy known as ‘Baruni-snan’ (deep bath), in the river Jamuna began at Aricha point in Shivalaya upazila  yesterday. Hundreds of Hindu devotees took part in the bath. A three-day Baruni Mela also began on the bank of the river. Puja Udjapan Commi­ttee and Shivalaya Port Traders Association jointly arranged the programme. The fair featuring ‘circus’, ‘puppet dances’, ‘merry-go-round’, ‘bioscope’ is attracting a large number of people.
