Hathurusingha keen to be part of selection panel

While the Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha seemed to have interested to be the part of the country’s selection panel after Bangladesh's World Cup exit from the quarterfinals in 2015, it created a huge uproar. The talk over the issue was dismissed after the then Cricket Operations chairman Naimur Rahman Durjoy publicly opposed it. but the issue seemed to have resurfaced. Rumours were rife the coach wanted to be the part of the selection panel as he is all set to get his new contract.
The decision of BCB policy makers to expand the selection panel also fueled the rumour. In the working committee led by its chairman Enayet Hossain Siraj, the policy makers of the board, decided in principle to add two more selectors in the three-member selection panel.
Siraj however dismissed the notion of adding coach in the selection panel, stating, Bangladesh’s tradition didn’t allow any coach to be the part of selection. “Because the selection job is controversial always. So the board couldn’t let him to go for selection job.”
“I don’t think that his contract includes something like that he would do the selection job. If he wants this in his new contract it’s up to the board,” Siraj added.
