Mustafiz unfazed by IPL pressure

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman remained unfazed by the pressure of performing in the big stage like Indian Premier League (IPL). He took the most glamorous domestic league in the world as the learning curve rather than being tensed to get a place in the squad in regular basis.
He was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad, a team boasted with several left arm pacers like Trent Boult, Ashish Nehra, Ben Cutting, Brinder Sran and others. Hence it would be tough for him to get a place in the best XI but as usually he hadn’t had any headache with that.
“The good thing is that our team is bolstered with several left arm pacers, so there is chance to learn many things from them,” Mustafizur said.
Mustafizur was specialist in cutter and slower, the two stock deliveries which according to Ashish Nehra is God gifted. But the pacer, adorably dubbed as cutter master wants to hone his skill in getting the ball in from outside, another stock delivery of the left arm pacer. The likes of Nehra and Boult are specialists in this sector.
Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired him with an amount of RS. 1.40 crore and they could feel them lucky to get him, specially after his groundbreaking performance in the World T20. He finished with nine wickets in just three matches including tournament’s best figure of five for 22 against New Zealand.
Both Mustafizur and Shakib Al Hasan, a player regular in IPL, left the country to join their franchise in two different flights yesterday.  Shakib is retained by Kolkata Knight Riders. While Mustafizur obtained his NOC yesterday before boarding his flight, Shakib took it three days ago. The curtain of the IPL-9 raises on April 9.
“I am not scared totally. I feel quite well,” he said. “I just will try to continue my natural game.”
When asked him playing with Shakib Al Hasan, the young sensation said, “We’ve played together National Cricket League before entering into the national team. Hopefully we will meet in Kolkata in IPL.”
“I would have been good if we can play together in the same team in IPL. In that case we can stay together,” he said.
Shakib’s KKR however didn’t bid for Mustafizur in the auction. Mustafizur is the sixth Bangladeshi player to play in the IPL after Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Abdur Razzak, Mohammad Ashraful, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan.
Bangladesh physio Bayajidul Islam however will send a directory about his fitness to the Sunrsiers physio since the bowler recovered from a side strain and shoulder injury just before the World T20. While Shakib’s team KKR will meet Delhi Daredevils on April 10, Mustafizur’s Sunrisers takes on Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12 in its first match.
