Fire breaks out at tin-shed houses

A devastated fire broke out at two multi-storied tin-shed houses at Kunipara near Happy Homes under Tejgaon Industrial area in the capital yesterday afternoon.
Quoting the eyewitness, Fire Service and Civil Defence official Enayet Hossain told The Independent that the fire originated around 5:40pm. Seven units of firefighters doused the fire after more than one hour. Tenants of the houses claimed that the fire originated from a kitchen of a three storied tin-shed house said.
However, exact reason behind the incident yet to be known. There were no reports of any casualties, said the officials.  
While visiting the spot, several tenants were seen crying telling that their children were inside the houses during the incident. Mini Akter, a swing operator of Z-2 Fashion in Tejgaon area told this correspondent that her son Abdullah was missing.
Mahmuda Begum, another tenant said, there were around one hundred small rooms in the three multi-storied tin-shed houses.
One has to pay around Tk 5,000 per month for a single room.
Local sources said, some ruling party influential men are earning huge amount of money each month by renting the illegally constructed rooms.
They also managed gas, electricity and other utilities illegally by providing bribes to the officials concerned.
Sub Inspector Hemayet Hossain, duty officer of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station said, senior officials are on the spot and till now they had no information of any causalities.
