The Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities issued show-cause notices to three Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men, who had allegedly assaulted a student at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha on the campus on Saturday.
The proctorial body issued the show-caused notices at a meeting yesterday afternoon, sources said.
JU Proctor Professor Tapan Kumar Shaha confirmed the news and said the BCL activists have been asked to reply the show cause notice within seven days.
The accused BCL activists are--- Shamim Ahmed, a student of 42 batch of International Relations department, Sabbir Ahmed, 42 batch student of drama and dramatics and Robin, 43 batch of chemistry department. All are the resident student of Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar (SRJ) hall.
Witness said Anis Mahmud, a third year student of statistics department, was allegedly beaten up by some unruly BCL activists when he was enjoying a concert which was arranged by statistics department.
Sources said first two rows of the concert were allotted only for the organisers, including teachers and students of statistics department, but some BCL leaders forcibly sit on the second row.
When Anis protested the BCL men, they locked in altercation and beat up Anis mercilessly. Later, Anis was rushed to the university medical centre.
Later, Anis submitted a written complaint to the university authorities on Sunday seeking proper justice.
