Girl killed in wall collapse
HABIGANJ: A minor girl was killed and her sister injured when a wall of their house collapsed on them at a slum of Lalchan area under Chunarughat upazila of the district early yesterday morning, reports BSS.
The deceased was Sathi Sautal, 8, daughter of Kanu Sautal of the same area.
Police said the wall fell on the two sisters while they were sleeping in their house. Local people rescued Sathi and her sister Kalpona and sent them to Habiganj Sadar Hospital where attending doctor declared Sathi dead.

IU student suspended

The authorities of Islamic University expelled a student yesterday for his involvement in leaking admission test question paper of first year honors courses under 2015-16 academic session, campus sources said.
The decision came at a university security committee meeting, presided over by university vice chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hakim Sarker.
The student, Ripon Ali, was doing masters in in Mathematics department of the university.
Sources said on December 6, 2015, Ripon Ali and Sazzad Ahmed of Bangla  department were suspended temporarily for the offence.
When contacted, Proctor Mahbubur Rahman said, “We have collected information  from the probe body that said Ripon was involved in the fraudulent act, but Sazzad was not.”

2 held with smuggled goods
Benapole: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a covered van driver and helper with a huge amount of smuggled Indian goods from Khorki Railgate area of Jessore on Sunday night, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Sohel Rana, driver of the covered van, and Abdullah, the helper.
Sources at Jessore Rab-6 said on secret information, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area at night and arrested the duo along with the covered van.
Later they seized Indian shari, three pieces and medicines worth TK 78 lakh from the covered van.
The seized goods were smuggled from India, added the Rab officials.
A case was filed with Kotowali Police Station in this connection.
