The daily transaction at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges rose significantly yesterday indicating that the investors were returning to the bourses with fresh commitment, reports BSS.
The trade value at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) surged by 18.75 per cent to Tk 490.39 crore while the volume increased by 13.13 per cent to 14.29 crore shares.
Similarly, the trade value at Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose to Tk 42.21 crore from previous day’s Tk 29.42 crore, with the trade volume surging to 1.54 crore shares from Sunday’s 98.92 lakh shares.
The higher activities drove the prices of the majority of the traded issues up at close.
At DSE, 194 securities closed higher when only 81 issues were lower at close. A total of 150 issues advanced on CSE against 71 lagging scrips.
The gaining issues across the board pushed the major DSE index over 4400-point mark.
The DSEX finished the day at 4431.65 gaining 52.42 points. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also advanced to 1678.10 and 1068.82 accordingly.
The major CSCX index of CSE gained significantly yesterday to close at 8291.70. The two stock exchanges saw the rise in their major indices for the past four sessions in a row.
“Seems like market sentiments got some positive vibe steaming from market fundamentals”, said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.
As of some previous sessions, price movement of large-cap stocks was the major contributor to the steady rise of indices at both DSE and CSE.
Titas Gas along contributed 6.79 points to the gain in DSEX.
The other major drivers were from banking, cement and pharmaceutical sectors.
Telecom was the only lagging sector of the day.
The top five gaining issues were Titas Gas, NHFL, Legacy Foot, Ibne Sina and Central Pharmaceutical.
The major losers included ISN Limited, Aziz Pipes, KDS Accessories, Pubali Bank and Gemini Sea Food.
Titas Gas topped the turnover leaders followed by Ibne Sina, Lanka Bangla, Aman Feed and Ifad Autos.
