ICAB offers waiver for DU students
The students of Department of Accounting and Information System (AIS) of Dhaka University will get subjects waiver while studying Chartered Accountancy Course.
The students who have already studied related subjects in BBA and MBA or other courses in the university, they would get subjects waiver as well as financial benefits upon fulfilling certain criteria.
ICAB President Kamrul Abedin, FCA came up with the announcement while delivering speech at a discussion ‘Chartered Accountancy: Career Excellence’ jointly organised by AIS and ICAB at Business Studies Faculty Conference Hall on Saturday, said a press release. He said ICAB and AIS Department would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon, under which students of AIS will get subjects waiver for studying chartered accountancy. Vice Presidents Adeeb Hossain Khan, FCA, Mahmudul Hasan Khusru, FCA, Dhaka University Professors Mahfuzul Hoque, Dr Mizanur Rahman, ICAB Council Members M Farhad Hussain, FCA, Dewan Nurul Islam, FCA and Mostafa Kamal, FCA Among others spoke in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest former President of American Chambers of Commerce in Bangladesh (AMCHAM) Aftabul Islam, FCA said Chartered Accountancy is rewarding profession in current global business aspects and in Bangladesh it is highly demandable profession. At present ICAB have only 1700 members which are not enough to fulfill the market demands. Bangladesh needs more than 12 thousand chartered accountants to serve the country in better way, added Islam.
DU geography dept alumni association donates Tk 11 lakh to university
Dhaka University Geography and Environment Department Alumni Association on Sunday donated Tk 11 lakh to the university to set up a trust fund to provide scholarship to 10 meritorious students.
The association handed over a cheque to the university Treasurer Professor Mohammad Kamal Uddin at the vice-chancellor's office of the university.
Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro-Vice Chancellor (academic) Professor Nasreen Ahmad, Geography and Environment Department Chairperson Professor Hafija Khatun, Alumni Association President AKB Deen Mohammad Khan, Vice-President Khandkar Abdul Hafiz, General Secretary Abdul Salek and Treasurer Mohammad Ashraf Ali Akanda, were present on the occasion, among others.
Reunion of statistics 33rd batch held at JU
The 33rd batch of statistics department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) celebrated 12th anniversary of the department with festivity and fanfare on the campus on Saturday.
Marking the programme, teachers, students and staff of the department brought out a colorful rally at 9am from the department premises which terminated at the same place after parading the main street on the campus. Prof Syeda Shahana Haque, chairman of statistics department inaugurated the programme. 33rd batch of statistics department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) celebrated their 12th anniversary with festivity and fanfare on the campus.
