Chittagong City Corporation and Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) in separate drives pulled down nine more billboards, three gates and thirty holding signs from city’s Gani Bakery to Probortak and Kadamtali to Railway polo ground areas yesterday. The CCC pulled down four billboards, three gates and 30 holding signs from city’s Gani Bakery to Probortak area. During the drive CCC magistrate Nazia Shirin fined Tk13, 000 to two advertisement companies for erecting illegal billboard occupying footpath which creates obstruction to the traffic movement in the city. The railway stared their drive at around 11am led by Mohammad Ruhul Amin, executive magistrate of district administration. CCC resumed eviction drive against illegal hoardings in the premier port city from June 1, 2015 after six months, as per the direction of its newly elected mayor AJM Nasir Uddin. From June 1 to yesterday CCC pulled down a total of 84 illegal billboards from city.
