7 ‘robbers’ held in Moulvibazar
Moulvibazar: Police in separate drives arrested seven alleged members of a robber gang from Kulaura upazila and different places of the district on Saturday, reports UNB. The arrestees were identified as Islam, 38, and Soleman, 36, two notorious robbers of Kamalganj upazila; Mostafa , 39, and Seful, 21, from Rajnagar upazila; Shakil, 23, a resident of Vatera area of Kulaura upazila; Shahid, 36, hailing from Habiganj Sadar upazila and Anwar, 35 from Sreemangal upazila. Police also recovered 12 mobile phone sets, two machetes, one grill cuter and some locally-made weapons from their possession and a seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw which were used in robberies.
At a press briefing on the Kulaura Police Station premises around 12:00pm, police said a team of police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police of Kulaura Circle Junaid Alam Sarkar conducted those drives and arrested the robbers.
Shamshuddoha, PPM, said several cases were filed against the arrestees with different police stations.
Body recovered from septic tank
Comilla: Police recovered the body of a minor boy from a septic tank at Shakpur village in Borura upazila on Saturday afternoon three days after his going missing, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Hossain, 8, son of Abul Kashem, a resident of the village.
Quoting family sources, Aslam Shikder, officer-in-charge of Borura Police Station, said Ibrahim had gone missing on March 20.
Victim’s father filed a general diary with the police station in this connection on April 1.
Later locals spotted the boy’s body in a septic tank adjacent to his house on Saturday afternoon and informed police. Police recovered the body from the septic tank.
‘A wire of mobile phone charger was found tangled around the throat’ added the OC.
Fake major held in Manikganj

Manikganj police arrested a fake major from Uthuly area in Shivalaya upazila yesterday morning. He has been identified as Tanvir Ahamed alias Mohammod Hossain, 35, of Banari village in Tungipara upazila of Munshiganj district. Police also seized a wireless set, 16 mobile sets and 22 pieces SIM cards of different companies and a bag with Army emblem from his possession. Mahfuzur Rahman, police superintendent of Manikganj, at a press briefing yesterday said Tanvir had been making money and grabbing properties by cheating people for a long time introducing himself as an Army major. During preliminary interrogation, the man confessed to his crime saying he had been posing a an Army major to cheat people in Manikganj and Dhaka city, said Aminur Rahaman, OC of Sadar PS. A case was lodged with Sadar police station in this regard.
