BOGRA: Five working journalists of Rajshahi division have been given CLS Media Award yesterday for helping poor and marginalized litigants’ especially ethnic population to get cost-free legal aid services, reports BSS. Light House under its ‘Improved Justice and Legal Aid Services (IJLAS) project’ organized the award-giving ceremony at its office here. Community Legal Services (CLS) supported the programme funded by UKAID through Maxwell Stamp-PLC. The recipients were Dr Aynal Haque of Rajshahi, Rafiqul Alam of Bogra, Shakhawat Hossain of Naogaon, Jahurul Islam of Sirajganj and Abdul Alim of Pabna. Deputy Commissioner Ashraf Uddin spoke on the occasion as chief guest while SP Asaduzzaman and District AL Momtaz Uddin spoke as special guests with Harun-Or-Rashid, Executive Chief of Light House, in the chair. The speakers said that media has a vital role towards reaching the existing cost-free legal aid services at grassroots litigants.
