Expressing dissatisfaction over the verdict, the family members of Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid yesterday rejected the verdict that upheld his death penalty.
Mujahid’s son, Ali Ahmed Mabrur, while expressing his reaction to the verdict on the Supreme Court (SC)premises after the verdict yesterday, said, “We are aggrieved over the verdict. We did not get justice at the Tribunal. We hoped for justice at the SC, but we have been deprived of that here as well.”
“The verdict did not specifically mention when, where and which intellectuals my father killed. Not even did the children of any such intellectual level allegations against Mujahid at the Tribunal in this connection,” he alleged.
Mabrur, however, expressed his hope that they would finally be proved innocent in the legal battle, after appealing against the verdict.
Meanwhile, Mujahid’s brother Ali Afzal Mohammad Khales, who is also Nayeb-e-Ameer of the Faridpur district unit of the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, rejected the verdict and said, “The verdict against my brother is stage-managed.”
“The verdict is totally intentional and politically vengeful. We reject the verdict,” he added.
