REB subscribers cross 1.5 crore

Rural Electrification Board (REB) has brought a total of 1,50,18,050 subscribers under electricity connection across the country up till March this year, a press release issued by REB said.
With an aim to fulfill the Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina’s vision ‘Electricity to every household’, REB has been relentlessly working to build new electricity network to expand rural electrification activities.
REB is determined to provide electricity to 90 per cent  of the households to upheld the PM’s ‘Vision 2021’ in which she stated about bringing electricity to most parts of rural Bangladesh.
Only in last March this year, a total of 5,08,734 new electricity  subscribers were created by the REB. The REB is well on path of achieving the target of providing electricity connections to 30 lakh new subscribers in 2015-16 fiscal year.
To achieve the Sustainable development goal (SDG), under which the government plans to attain 100 per cent electricity coverage, another new 60 lakh connections will be provided by 2021.
REB Chiarman Major General Main Uddin praised the REB initiatives and asked all the officials of Palli Biddyut Samity (PBS) to keep up the good work said the release.
