Chinese author, Nepalese envoy meet DU VC
Chinese Author and Philosopher Desh Subba and Acting Ambassador of Nepal in Bangladesh Sushil K Lamsal called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Saturday at the latter's office of the university.
Executive Director of Language Movement Research Centre and Museum MR Mahbub was present, among others, on this occasion, said a release in the capital.
During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative research programmes on 'Fearism' by the University of Dhaka and higher educational institutions in China.
Various social issues including child killings and freedom of expression were also discussed in the meeting.
They stressed the need for strengthening friendly ties among the neighbouring countries through people to people interaction.
Professor Arefin thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and keen interest in its academic activities, it added.
Chinese Author Desh Subba is now on a visit to Bangladesh to deliver a lecture on 'Philosophy of Fearism' at CIRDAP Auditorium on April 3 at 5 pm. Embassy of Nepal, Dhaka and Oikya Prokashoni will jointly organize the programme.
Student union inauguration ceremony today
The inauguration ceremony of second central student union of Gono Bishwabidyalay will be held today at Gonoshasthaya Kendra PHA auditorium, says a press release.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will announce the launching of the committee and committee members will be sworn- in- by the minister.
Dr Enamur Rahman, parliament member of Dhaka-19 Constituency, Md Benzir Ahamd, president of Dhaka District Awami League and former parliament member will present as special guest.
The programme will be presided over by pro vice-chancellor of Gono Bishwabidyalay and president of central student union Prof Dr Md Delwar Hossain. A cultural programme will be held also in the afternoon.
Gono Bishwabidyalay is the only private university in Bangladesh where central student union is being run.
Earlier its first committee started its journey through a grand inauguration ceremony in September 29, 2013.
Discussion on cyber security held at NSU
The School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (SEPS), North South University (NSU) organised a roundtable discussion on “State of Cyber Security in the Public and Private Enterprises of Bangladesh and Role of Academia, Industry and Government” yesterday in the Syndicate Hall of the university, says a press release.
Before starting the discussion, a formal session was held where M A. Kashem, Chairman, BOT, NSU addressed as the chief guest. Prof Atiqul Islam, Vice-chancellor was also present as the special guest. Dr M Abdul Awal, Professor, ECE department presided over the session. Dr Hafiz Abdur Rahman, associate professor of the department conducted the discussion. Among others Prof Md Sirajul Islam, Dean (SEPS) was present.
Daffodil Premier League inaugurated
Daffodil Premier League (DPL) was inaugurated at Indira Road TNT ground in the capital yesterday, says a press reelase.
Sports Club of Daffodil International Academy (DIA) organised the programme. The Executive Director of Daffodil International Academy Mohammad Nuruzzaman was formally inaugurated the event. Among others, the Deputy Academic Director of DIA Md Sarwar Hossain Mollah, Deputy Director of DIA Shah Newaz Mazumder with DIA Students, Faculties & Management Staffs were present. Total 16 teams are participating in the event.
