RAJSHAHI: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has said the development of Rajshahi is progressing fast with direct direction of the present government, reports BSS.
He mentioned that development of the region has been incorporated with the country's main improvement process.
The state minister was addressing the 142nd founding anniversary and reunion of Rajshahi Government Madrasa in the city yesterday as chief guest.
Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, and Abdul Wadud Dara, MP, spoke as special guests with Prof Shafiqur Rahman, Principal of Rajshahi Court College, in the chair.
Principal of Shaheed Kamaruzzaman College Abdul Khaleque, Editor of Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Principal of Govt Madrasha Afzal Hossain, among others, were present.
Shahriar Alam told the participants that weekly three flights are operating between Rajshahi and Dhaka and connecting flight for welfare of the Haj Pilgrims has been arranged.
The government is working relentlessly for ensuring accommodation and other hospitality facilities to host international cricket competition here. There is also a plan of initiating a non-stop train between Rajshahi and Dhaka.
Alam said the ancient govt madrasa has been bearing many histories and tradition. Many famous leaders like Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy addressed public meeting on various important issues here.
He said the government is committed to build the institution as fit and large-scale for the future generation. Collective efforts and proper planning of all concerned will play vital role towards development of the historic institution, he expected.
