NARAYANGANJ: The body which was recovered from Jalkuri in Siddhirganj here on Saturday was said to be of Drik Gallery official Mohammad Irfanul Islam, reports UNB.
Officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station Sarafatullah said locals spotted a body near Feroz Filling Station alongside Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road on Saturday afternoon and informed police.
Later, law enforcers recovered the body that bore several injury marks and sent it to Narayanganj 100-Bedded General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Irfanul’s family members identified him at the hospital on Sunday morning.
SM Rezaur Rahman, general manager of Drik Picture Library Limited, said their administrative officer Irafnul went missing after he had gone to the Dhanmondi-8 branch of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd by a private car of the company on Saturday noon to draw Tk 3.08 lakh.
As he did not return to the bank even after a long time, car driver Nasir Miah went inside, but did not find him, Rezaur said. Later, a general diary was lodged with Kalabangan Police Station. Criminals might have kidnapped the Drik Gallery official with a motive to snatch his belongings and dumped the body here after killing him, the OC said.
Victim’s elder brother, Imdadul Islam, said Irfanul had been working at the Drik Gallery for the last 20 years and he had not enemy.
