103 held in special drives
CHITTAGONG: Police in overnight special drives arrested 103 people, including seven activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir from different areas of the district on Monday night. Mohammad Naimul Hasan, additional superintendent of police (SB) of Chittagong district confirmed the matter. Among the arrestees, four are Jamaat activists and three Shibir men who were accused in sabotage cases while the others were warranted and accused in regular cases, he added.
Two minor girls drown
SYLHET: Two minor girls drowned in a pond at Arenga village in Beanibazar upazila on Monday. The deceased were identified as Jobaida Rahman,5, daughter of Abdur Rahman, and Fahima Begum,7, daughter of Abdul Kadir, both a residents of the village. Locals said Jobaida and Fahima slipped into water in the pond and drowned while playing near the pond at about 2:30pm. Later, locals noticed their floating bodies in the pond and recovered those.
Int'l Yoga Day June 21
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) in collaboration with the United Nations in Bangladesh and Bangladesh Yoga Association will commemorate the first International Yoga Day on June 21. Gowher Rizvi, International Relations Advisor to the Prime Minister, is expected to inaugurate the International Yoga Day as the chief guest at the National Museum at 5 pm, said a IGCC press release yesterday. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative Robert D Watkins will be present as special guests on the occasion.

Certificate-giving ceremony
RAJSHAHI: The closing and certificate-giving ceremony of a three-day motivational training workshop for the school teachers was held at Rajshahi Teachers Training College (RTTC) on Monday, reports BSS.
Centre for Capacity Building of Voluntary Organisation (CCBVO) and Bangladesh Freedom Foundation (BFF) jointly organised the workshop in association with the RTTC with the main thrust of elevating professional competence of the teachers.
