Construction works of the 11-kilometre long roads and 10 culverts from Bala Komar Sarak point to Burial via Khotkhotia Kali Mandir points have begun under Ward No-4 and Ward No-5 here in the city, reports BSS. Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RpCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the construction works at Taka 6.13 crore by unveiling plaque at separate ceremonies as the chief guest on Wednesday afternoon.The RpCC has been implementing construction works of the 11-kilometre long roads and 10 culverts under the City Governance Project with financial assistance of the Government of Bangladesh and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Moderated by Executive Engineer of RpCC Azam Ali, City Councilors Haradhan Chandra Roy and Anwarul Islam, local elite Kamal Kumar Roy and Aduri Rani Roy, addressed the functions, among others.
The City Mayor said steps have been taken for turning Rangpur into a beautiful and eco-friendly city with adequate civic amenities and modern communication networks through implementing massive infrastructural development works.
“After completion of construction works of the 11-kilometre roads and 10 culverts, road communications would be improved everywhere in Ward No-4 and Ward No-5 connecting these places with others areas of the city,” he said.
