Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that there are ‘homegrown’ terrorists in the country, but no links with international terrorist organisations, even with Islamic States (IS). “Homegrown terrorists have committed crimes with the help of a section of political parties and in the name of religious fanaticism, but law enforcement agencies are in control of the situation,” he told reporters after a meeting with a high-power US delegation led by Dr Sarah Sewall, Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights of US Department of State, at his secretariat office yesterday. Among others, Assistant Secretary of US Department of Homeland Security Alan Bersin and US Ambassador in Bangladesh Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat attended the meeting.
