It remained dank and cool yesterday, with rains in most parts of the country accompanied by occasional gusty winds like the one blowing over Madaripur, reaching up to 48kmph. The wet spell is continuing since Wednesday. Sources in the meteorological department said such weather conditions may continue today and tomorrow, and for the next few days. Though the rainfall was only 9mm during the past 24 hours, ending at 6pm in the capital, the weather caused trouble on the streets and disrupted traffic. Such a sudden weather phenomenon on the 17th day of Chaitra, at the beginning of summer, with the maximum temperature going down to 30.5 degrees Celsius, was caused by a westerly low pressure over the Himalayas and easterly pressure over Gangetic West Bengal.
