MA Sabur new UCB chairman

MA Sabur has been elected chairman of United Commercial Bank Limited, the bank said in a statement. The decision was made in a board meeting of the bank held at its corporate head office in the capital yesterday,
Sabur is one of the pioneers to fostering corporate governance in business and industry sector and also a prominent business tycoon, entrepreneur, philanthropist, socialite. He is also the chairman of Masco and Maxim Group, it added.
The meeting also elected Anisuzzaman Chowdhury as vice-chairman of the bank. Chowdhury is a director of Ronny Chemical Industries Ltd.
Chairman and managing director of Amber Group Showkat Aziz Russell was elected as executive committee chairman of UCB while Chairman and Managing Director of J K Group of Industries Jahangir Alam Khan was elected chairman of Risk Management Committee of the bank, the statement added.
