2 held with 1,600 yaba pills
Police in separate drives arrested two people along with 1,600 pieces of yaba tablet in different areas of Khulna city on Wednesday night.
Assistant Commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of police Sheikh Kamrul Islam said tipped off, DB police in a drive in Boira area under Khalishpur police station aarrested Jahangir Hossain Kalu about 8pm. The law enforcers also recovered 1,400 yaba tablet after searching his body. Besides, Khalishpur police station in another drive in Chitkali Sobhan Market area arrested Sumon with 200 yaba tablet, said OC of the police station M Anwar Hossain.
Road accident kills one
A man was killed in a road accident at Chuknagar under Dumuria upazila of Khulna on Wednesday.
The deceased was Hamidul Sarder, 28, hailed from Satkhira.
Camp-in-Charge of Chuknagar Highway Police Outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Saifur Ahmed said the accident occurred when a speedy truck knocked a rickshaw from behind in the area about 4 pm, leaving rickshaw passenger Hamidul dead on the spot. Wounded van-puller was rushed to a Local Health Complex, he added. Police recovered the body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
