Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman yesterday urged women as well as the young generation to come forward to develop the country utilising the benefits of Information and Technology (IT), reports BSS.
"Women empowerment through IT is very important and time befitting," he said while addressing as the chief guest at the Grand Finale of WE CAN-Daffodil Apps Fellowship 2016 at Daffodil International University auditorium in the capital, said a press release.
The minister said the role of women in development sector is remarkable whether it may be in play ground, garments sector or even in armed forces.
WE CAN, Bangladesh and Daffodil International University jointly organised the fellowship programme for a young talented group who would develop an apps on women rights' issue.
Dhaka Residential Model College became Champion while North South University achieved the second position in the fellowship programme.
WE CAN, Bangladesh Chairperson Advocate Sultana Kamal, DIU Board of Trustees Chairman M Sabur Khan and Emeritus Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, among others, were present on the occasion.
Sultana Kamal said "We want to build such type of Apps which ensure women empowerment and also will assist empowering women utilising IT expertise and talent of our young generation through this fellowship programme."
