State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Polok has urged all concerned to explore the advancement of latest mobile technologies to avail the utmost benefit out of it, BBS reports from Rajshahi.
“Mobile phone has brought the whole world in the grips of the people. It changed the country. Mobile has been playing a great role in changing life-style, thought, reaction and way or work of millions of people across the globe including Bangladesh,” the state minister said.
He was addressing the inaugural session of a daylong Rajshahi Divisional Boot Camp-2015 as the chief guest at the auditorium of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) here today.
Information and Communication Technology Division organized the camp under the ‘National Mobile Application Development Awareness & Capacity Building Programme.’
The main thrust of the event was to reach various public services to the doorsteps of the people, building competent human resources and creating market scopes of local products in the foreign markets.
More than 750 young people from different corners of the division joined the boot camp and took training on development of mobile applications and developing android-based applications.
With RUET Vice-chancellor Prof Rafiqul Alam Beg in the chair, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jakir Hossain spoke as special guest.
Polok said the government plans to increase internet penetration in the country by 70 per cent in the next four years.
“By 2015 every upazila and by 2017 every union will get fibre optic connections,” he added. “Local content in Bangla is necessary for these. Bangla content is also necessary for about 40 crore people, who speak in Bangla worldwide,” Polok said.
