At least 20 female students of a madrassa have fallen sick after using pesticides to remove lice from hair at Chandipur in Sadar upazila. They have been undergoing treatment in a hospital over the past three days. They were admitted to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on Saturday night. Of them, conditions of five were serious. Hospital sources said Muslima, a student of Umme Habiba Valuka Mahila Madrassa, had suggested her fellow students for using pesticide in the hair in order to get rid of lice. Residence medical officer of Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hhospital Abdul Jabbar said at least 20 students of the madrassa fell sick after using pesticides in hair. Of the injured, condition of five students is serious. Superintendent of the madrassa Harun Ar Rashid said it is totally an unexpected incident. This has happened due ignorance of the students, he added.
