Rubel Hossain’s celebration after dismissing Virat Kohli in Bangladesh’s ill-fated match against India in the last World Cup was considered as ‘exaggerated elation’ and indicated that there was some issues between the two.
When again those two players would meet on Thursday during the first ODI of the series, it will surely bring back the memory of the battle between the two in the World Cup.
“He is the best batsman in the world right at the moment. So his wicket is a bowler’s dream. I am sure not only me, everybody will celebrate like the way what I did after getting his wicket. There is no issue,” he said over the phone.
They firstly met when they were the part of their respective team’s Under-19 team and the spat between the two began from there. It was the tri-angular Under-19 series involving the hosts South Africa. In a group match, Kohli angered Rubel by sledging him. Rubel took the revenge of dismissing him and sledged back. That was the memory still is believed to be vivid in Rubel’s memory.
The bowler however denied it saying, “I never remembered that matter. It is now past but media likes to bring up the issue. Honestly the incident was not in mind until you reminded me it.”
“As I said his wicket is a bowler’s dream, I want to get him again. It will give me an immense pleasure if I get him.”
When Bangladesh will play against India once again, the quarter-final match is believed to be revisited. Some umpiring errors led Bangladesh’s big margin defeat in the match. But Rubel said they didn’t discuss about the match amongst them. The fans in the social media outlet however termed the clash as a revenge of World Cup.
“That was umpire’s call and we have to respect it. We didn’t discuss about the match and to us it’s not an issue of revenge. It’s just another International match and we will give our best to win it. That’s it.”
