A High Court (HC) bench yesterday suspended election schedule of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) for one month, reports UNB.
A HC bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice Krisna Devnath passed the order after hearing a writ petition.
M Abdullah, owner of M/S Trade Information Limited, filed the writ petition as his name was dropped from the voter list.
The election was scheduled for April 28 according to the poll schedule announced by BAIRA.
The High Court also issued a rule seeking explanation as to why a directive would not be given to include Abdullah’s name in the voter list.
Barrister ABM Altaf Hossain stood for the petitioner, while assistant attorney general Samorendranath Biswas for the state.
