The government has lifted its ban imposed on the export of raw jute with effect from April 3, reports UNB.
The Textiles and Jute Ministry issued a circular yesterday in this regard.
Earlier on December 3, the government banned the export of raw jute in order to strictly implement the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act 2010.
Following requests from the exporters, the government on January 7 permitted 41 organisations to export 2.77 lakh bales of raw jute. Earlier, on December 3 of last year government slapped a ban on the export of all sorts of raw jute until further notice. The textiles and jute ministry issued an order on the day to put the ban in effect.
“Under section 4 and 13 of the Jute Ordinance 1962, the export of raw jute will remain suspended until further notice for proper implementation of the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act-2009,” it says.
Earlier, a similar ban was imposed for a month starting Nov 3.
